Amanda Peskin

Amanda is a photographer, writer and wanderer who just can't stop traveling. She's ventured solo to Australia, Japan, Hercegovina and Tahiti, amongst many other far-flung locales. Years of photographing such travels have helped her accumulate a colorful and varied portfolio of the world including the rainforests of New Zealand and the Himalayan peaks of Nepal, monks and monkeys, Mayan ruins and Mister Donuts. Recently returned from a 14-month stint in Asia, she's compiled her experiences into the "Forty Photos From" series of books to entertain and educate anyone who loves travel, plans to travel, or wishes they could. Come and see the world....

Forty Photos From Nepal
Hot off the Himalayas! Three weeks in Nepal during a revolutionary time in the country's history provided Amanda with opportunities to photograph not only the deservedly famous peaks, but the consistantly smiling Nepali people. Tibetan Buddhist temples, wandering holy men and a smiling boar's head (but just the head) also make an appearance. It'll make you want to catch a ride to Kathmandu.

Forty Photos From Japan
The inaugural edition of the popular "Forty Photos From" series: A colorful peek into this fascinating, confusing, amusing nation from the perspective of a photographer who lived and traveled in Japan for one year. It's fairly easy to get carried away with images of Eastern cultures, so Peskin challenged herself to create a concise yet illuminating view of Japan in just forty photos. Subjects include noisy game arcades and peaceful rice paddies, a Tokyo shopping arcade and a small town's summer festival, content snow monkeys in their own hot springs and Japanese kids hamming it up for the camera. Travel through forty photos to experience the traditions, contradictions, humor and beauty that is modern-day Japan.
