2008 Feb 12 And my second book from my mirror Files is... Till Human Voices. This book is the story of an Augmented Human named Curtis (better known as 23)who tries to free himself from the legal straglehold that Triada has on him. Damned to wear black, and stripped of all human rights, the boy longs for something that most people take for granted: freedom. Every aspect of his life is controlled right down to what he says, and any transgression is punished whether by physical violence, threats, or the dreaded computer command known simply as 'reprimand.' Reprimands, for a Black Tunic, as beings like Curtis are known, is a way of life. They are the expected response to any perceived defiance. But what happens when your orders demand you do something so far beyond foolish that it is deemed impossible? What happens when your orders insist that you free yourself? Caught between his orders, and the unknown Curtis flees into the snow expecting the Clatch to kill him for being a Black Tunic. After all, he's not human. Is he? Find out what the "Human Voices" are and what they mean to a Unit like Curtis.  2008 Feb 12 Welcome to my place. I guess I had better introduce myself. My name is Elle Pepper, and I am a storyteller. The things you read here, and in my notebooks are things I have seen or lived in my travels through the mirror. Early in life I found that I was one of the few in my world, gifted or cursed to see alternate histories through my mirror. I have found that some mirrors work better than others. My preference is for full-length bedroom mirrors. (that is a mirror in MY bedroom.) The small ones like medicine cabinets can change your perspective too badly. Some of the stories here, I have dictated, having no paper to write them, and others I have copied from lore or legend. The two that I have right now are both legends from another place. The first is an Aural legend of justice on a far off future world known as Judica. The wanderer is a specter of justice that even the natives of that world fear. I managed to sit down with the Wanderer and have him tell me his tale. The second is the swashbuckling tale of Jalen Shenn, Pirate captain of the Dragon Wynd. When the Empire took everything he had, Jalen decided to defy them one last time in hopes he could end this centuries-old war.
