Theory of Music
The theory of music is the "grammar of the musical language." Without knowledge of this language and its grammar, it would be impossible to read music or communicate with other musicians. It would also be impossible to appreciate music itself as a science and art, at a much deeper level.
In this self-explanatory book, the music lover will find the proper nomenclature for each theoretical element, the correct notation for these elements, and the rules that govern them. Emphasis is given to several helpful exercises for sight-reading and singing as well as for rhythm sight-reading. The subjects covered are the essentials of the theory of music.
The teaching system in this book presents a fresh approach to the materials, and will remain a valuable companion and lasting source of reference.

Rhythm Exercises for Musicians
Whether an instrumentalist or a vocalist, this book will help you achieve a remarkable control in the performance of the most difficult and rhythmically complex lines of music. Beginning with detailed instruction for the novice and building to more advanced levels, the single and double line rhythm exercises are enormously beneficial to every musician.
Rhythmic phrases are intentionally composed by using short, long, or unequal number of measures. Odd rhythms with their odd time-signatures are included, offering a fresh welcoming change from the usual rhythms with their customary common time-signatures.
The creative musician/performer will find the numerous accent symbols helpful in uncovering the not so obvious (concealed) rhythmic phrases and for bringing the pieces of rhythm to life.

Concert Music for School Orchestra
From year to year, school orchestras are limited by the number and level of instrumentalists. The music teacher has to choose orchestrations accordingly for the orchestra at hand. Most schools have an abundance of flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion players, but violas, second oboe, second bassoon, third and fourth horns are rare. Other instruments such as the piccolo, English horn, bass clarinet, celesta and harp may also be lacking. With this in mind, the six short pieces in this book were orchestrated for a variety of commonly found ensembles with full-scores for the conductor and parts for each individual instrument.

Ear Training/Dictation Exercises for Musicians
Dictation is a curriculum requirement in all music schools and serves to develop the musicianship of the students. The concept is to enhance the student's ability to identify and transcribe tones and rhythms. In this audio CD the teacher is playing the reference tone (a1) and preparatory beats in the beginning of a number of exercises. The tone a1 is the A note above middle C on a keyboard. A good practice is to begin by writing down a draft (e.g., measures separated by bar-lines), and try to first capture the beginning and the end of the exercise. Then complete the measures in the middle of the exercise.
This audio CD is a great accompaniment for the following two books:

“Principles of Music” Theory ISBN: 978-1-4303-0955-0
