REDWOOD WRITERS
Of The California Writers Club |
We are one of sixteen branches of the California Writers Club, a statewide
nonprofit organization dedicated to educating both members and the
public in the craft of writing and in the marketing of their work, through
public meetings, workshops and conferences.
The club was founded in 1909 and early members included Jack London,
George Sterling, John Muir, Joaquin Miller and the first California poet
laureate, Ina Coolbrith.
"I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my
spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze that it should be
stifled by dry rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every
atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and perma-
nent planet. The proper function of man is to live, not
exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them.
