V.J. Padre Mochel

It doesn’t matter what team you worked on or what village you vacationed in, they all start to look the same after a while. I wrote about my experiences as a scuba G.O during the two seasons I worked at Turkoise. I was there from the beginning of the summer season in 1999 until the end of the winter season in 2000. In these pages are the memories of what was the best and worst job I ever had. Let me share them with you and no doubt you’ll find a flood of your own memories coming back. We may have worked or vacationed on different sides of the earth but the stories are still the same. For all you G.M's this is a look behind the scenes of what your favorite vacation "host's" go through on a day to day basis. See what it's like to have the world come to your house every week for holiday while you have to work. Written in English. Sorry, it's the only language I feel comfortable writing in.

After the Party
What do you do when the lights come on and you find yourself in an empty room? The crowd is gone and no one's left to cheer and yell out your name like they did when you were almost famous. The worlds longest never-ending party has just come to a close. There's nothing left to do now except clean up the mess, pack up your gear, and move on. For better or worse, you saw, you went, and you did it. It was just one more of life's short journey's down a long road.

Sex, Surf and Sunburn
“What happens on the island stays on the island”. This was the battle cry of the tourists that descended on us each week. If they only knew I could write this might have turned out differently. Sex, Surf and Sunburn is a true account of my experiences while working as a scuba instructor in the Caribbean. It’s 1999 and I am 42. I have no wife, no mortgage, no kids (no, I’m not gay) and no major responsibilities. I apply to Club Med and they send me to one of their resorts labeled a “party village for singles”. From my lovers to my enemies to all the humor and drama behind a job that averaged sixteen hour days six days a week, you’ll find it here. I quickly learn that working in paradise is not as easy as I thought it might be. So get comfortable, grab a drink and come spend thirteen months with me and get a feel of what it's like to work while the rest of the world comes to your house for vacation. Also on this site check out "Down and Dirty: Confessions of a Chief of Sports" by Greg Usas.
