Two bits represents a quarter. The term dates from the colonial days when the dominant unit of currency was the Spanish Doubloon. As a way of making change, these coins were cut into eight equal pieces - called bits - and two bits made a quarter of a Doubloon.

Deux morceaux représentent un quart. Les dates de terme à partir des jours coloniaux où l'unité dominante de devise était le Doublon espagnol. Comme une façon de faire le changement, ces pièces ont été coupées dans huit morceaux égaux - appelé des morceaux - et deux morceaux ont fait un quart d'un Doublon.
