Well I have finally published something... and without having to go to publishers/printers and work hard to convince others that it is worthwhile (financially, not artistically).
I think that Lulu itself could be easier to use, and I am still waiting for my book to be posted to me to see the end results... but on balance I think that it has been quite a positive experience.
If I ever do this again - I think I will try some of the other self-publishing sites that are out there - as the lack of customisation in lulu seemed a little restrictive (for instance they only let you choose from a list of their own book sizes, no book jackets, no paper options, etc).
I will be posting here again once I get my hands on my book.
