eBay Advisor 4
Whenever we put together an issue of eBay Advisor, I usually find myself taking the opportunity to go on an intensive shopping trip. Our main feature this month is eBay Unleashed - a comprehensive guide to the eBay experience; including views of those new to the community; those who have been using it for some time and those whom have had an alternate response and chosen to not use it further. Elsewhere we've got a feature showing sellers and small businesses how to get the best service when sending products to their winning bidders. Parcel2Go and Paypal (Royal Mail) are the nominated partners; and we'll show how to make use of both of them.

Nefertiti was an incredibly interesting person partially (or wholly?) responsible for revolutions in religion, art, social engineering—and possibly far more. The aspect of her life that I would like to consider here is the damage that she and her king undoubtedly did in forcing so many sudden changes and causing a split between what the people (or more correctly the priests) wanted and what the government (the royal court) delivered. So how does this link to RISC OS?

When I have introduced 11 year old kids to word-processing I have often done so whilst using a pen-knife (what else) to fashion a feather into a quill pen. The art of that introduction is to wait until one of the audience can stand it no longer and ask, "Why are you doing that, sir?". Of course the lesson is that whilst a computer is a great invention there are times when it may be more appropriate to get out a pen or pencil—or even a quill pen. And yes, that is the derivation of the name of our Electronic Quill column.

Movie Insider 10: Horror Special 2005
With every October coming and going, we’re frequently faced with a series of lukewarm horror movies that believe the key to a good horror movie is plenty of blood, guts and gore all over the place. But a good horror movie, an effective horror movie, is something so much more. It plays on your mind. Whether it’s the eerie music, or the location into which the horror is placed, there’s something about it that has you waking up in the middle of the night with an attack of the sweats.

DTP Principles
Many special magazine features on DTP, as well as full handbooks on the subject, tend to concentrate on using the ‘DTP package of the moment’, or make a point of using one computer operating system at the expense of another. They generally concentrate on showing you how to produce fancy graphical layouts and eye-catching designs by using the latest and most advanced features that are available in the newest DTP software. DTP Principles is different. You’ll find nothing in this guide about individual DTP packages. You’ll find nothing whatsoever about the choice of computer or operating system. You’ll even find precious little about using the graphical features available in your choice of DTP package. What you will find, though, is plenty of information about how to make sensible decisions concerning the more fundamental aspects of your design, and how to treat your document’s text with respect, so that your pages read impressively as well as looking good.
