Looking Back
There was a time
When I was a tender branch,
Your angry words
Were like a rotted tree
Falling in the wilderness,
Seemingly silent
But when it fell
It sounded out
A crack and a groan
Leaving an echo
In the windy canyon
Of my tolerance
Now the words are void,
Drifting like a thistle wish
Hoping to plant nearby
But the wind sends it afar
Where it finds others alike
And tries to return –
But it cannot find me
Because I am not there,
I am here now
And you will never know
