Independent Research Concludes Comfort Foods Really Do Comfort!

Ok, I admit this economy has me freaked out. Every time I listen to the news or read the paper, the grim financial reports are inescapable. I find it increasingly difficult to keep my mind from wandering off to my shrinking 401(K) and toss and turn at night worrying about the future of this country. I think it’s a fair assumption that many people are stressed about the economy. The question is, what can we do to ease this stress?

I have conducted a few studies and my research concludes that comfort foods like chocolate brownies are the number one enemy of stress (did you know “stressed” spelled backwards is “desserts?”). Sure, I’ll admit that this research was conducted under some questionable circumstances. Ok you’ve got me, the subjects tested were my friends and family, but the results were unanimous!

Do your part and help uplift those poor, miserable souls around you – get in that kitchen and start baking! Thankfully, with a book like Joan Donogh’s “Now….you’re cooking! Comfort Food Classics” the task can be fun and easy. Joan is a humanitarian of the highest caliber, sharing her amazing comfort food classic recipes for pasta, coffee cake, bread, cookies and even candy. Yum!

Joan, you are an angel. I feel better already.

  1. Hi Carol, thank you for reviewing my book. I just came onto the Lulu website and of course the title of your post caught my eye. When I clicked on it I was so surprised to see my book there! I actually originally published the book not that long after 9/11 when comfort foods were experiencing a resurgence in uncertain times. I sold out but continued to receive requests from people who wanted a copy, so I decided to reformat it and publish through Lulu.com. I am really thrilled with the quality of the book that Lulu has produced.

  2. Hi Joan! Your book is wonderful! When I was reviewing it, I couldn’t help but wish I had a plate of brownies to share with everyone here in the office. Thank you so much for publishing with us. I am sure your wonderful recipes will make a lot of people very happy!

I am a national victim’s advocate and the mother of a young woman murdered by her ex-husband. I have a 20 year overview with the victim, abuser, and legal system that I have written about. A month ago I subscribed to Lulu with a starter publishing pack which I thought included formatting. It did not and am simply trying to add formatting, but don’t find a separate way to add it. This is service order 2432348. I feel as though the story and the $500.00 I paid are in limbo. Any help you can give me would help me and society greatly. I have tried Lulu services and live chat, but don’t seem to be able to get the job done. Thank you

  4. Hello Millie,
I’m sorry that you are having trouble. I have passed your message along to the Services department. You should be hearing back from them soon. Best wishes with your project!

  5. It isn’t just the economy that is freaking us all out, it is the world in general. Later this year, citizens of the USA will vote for their next President. As an outside observer I am very concerned with this vote. I am not certain that people really think about their vote. Elections are often so much fun to observe. Each candidate will be trying to outwit the other, to dismiss them in some way and even trying to discredit their opponents. At the same time of course they are desperately trying to maintain their own credibility. But it isn’t about fun. This year’s Presidential Election is way beyond fun; it is the single most important event of living memory. You, the American voter, has to get it right. So who should you vote for?
In order to help people, I’ve just published a non partisan book to help every single American voter to consider the important issues before casting their vote.

I am trying to find Millie Bianco, so as to obtain a copy of her new book, (author is a victim’s advocate), she has written a book about her daughters murder. I met her recently and she told me she would soon have her book out. Any help would be appreciated.
