  1. It is interesting that the second place author and one of the seventh place authors each have a single book on their storefronts, and those items do not have a Lulu sales rank. Exactly what is the criteria for this contest (or is the sales rank process not updating)?

Also, the HTML link for the third place author is not formatted properly.

Good question – for this contest, sales are counted a little differently.
Here are some of the basic parameters around our first Lulu Author Sales Contest:

Only print orders placed through checkout, recorded between March 1, 2009 and March 31, 2009 will be counted

Orders placed from the author’s account, orders outside of Lulu or through distribution channels will not be counted in this contest

For this contest, only legal U.S. residents with print content available for sale within the Lulu marketplace are eligible. Some restrictions apply.

For more details, check out our Lulu Author Sales Contest official rules.

  3. It’s also interesting, strictly from a marketing view point, that the majority of the top 10 are books on religious subject matter.

  4. HI Josh!

I see our book is tied for 7th, how can we see the actual numbers in comparison to the other authors in the contest?

  5. Stan Carr

Congrats! How did you get Lulu to release your book to be found by bookstores through a look up? What tips do you have; since I am just getting started?
Congrats again and I wish you great success.

  6. Would be great to see some of the self help type books make it into the top ten, like my one ‘Behaviour Skills for Parents and Support People’ by Trevor Lewis. It is a fantastic help for Parents, support staff, teachers and others – just needs the marketing so people know about it.

Josh, Are you going to update the rankings again? If not is there anyway for me to find out where everyone stands as of today?

  8. Adam Guida

    Hi Glen,

Josh JUST updated an update of sales ranking in this post with current standings as of today, March 23. We’ll try updating this post regularly, so keep checking back often.

  9. Are there going to be more of these contests?

  10. Marie

I don’t see any of my sale number posted on my account and today is the last day of the contest. How are the top ten ranking contestants decided if all sales are not being posted and each contestant does not see there total sale count of their purchased book(s)?

  11. When is Lulu going to make an announcement about the winners of the March contest?

  12. Martha

Can you please explain to me what are Lulu sales ranks and how are they determined, so that I can be 100% sure that I understand. Thank you very much!

  13. Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and
said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely
off topic but I had to tell someone!

  14. has been made. I’ve subscribed to your RSS feed which must do the trick! Have a nice day!

  15. Spot on with this write-up, I actually feel
this amazing site needs a great deal more attention.
I’ll probably be returning to see more, thanks for the advice!

  16. An intriguing discussion is definitely worth comment.
I do think that you need to write more on this issue,
it might not be a taboo subject but usually people do not discuss such subjects.
    To the next! Many thanks!!
