The iPad hit shelves over the weekend and is already sending ripples through the book world. On the first day, Apple says customers downloaded more than 250,000 eBooks — it calls them iBooks — in its iBookstore.
Some familiar titles appearing on iPad’s virtual bookshelves are Lulu’s very own: PhotoSecrets 101 Tips for Travel Photographers, Getting Real: The smarter, faster, easier way to build a successful web application, Briefs, and Memories of the Future.
A few Lulus purchased iPads. Here are a couple screen shots of Briefs and Memories of the Future.
To get on the iBookstore yourself, here are the details.

Hi.
I am sorry, but you surely might want to correct your post. 250,000 ibooks were “downloaded”, not “sold”!
Anyway, the iPad will change the publishing industry…
So congrats, that LuLu in aboard from day 1. Hope it will not take weeks until our books will appear there too
Thanks for the catch, SoHo Books! I’ve fixed it.
So what differentiates Lulu titles that are available as iBooks from those that are not?
Good question, Jim. Lulu eBooks that appear on Apple’s iBookstore are considered iBooks. These books must be in the ePub format. Ebooks can be many different formats, but those appearing in Apple’s iBookstore must be ePub.
