The Perfect Anti-Valentine’s Gift

For Valentine’s this year, I wanted to cover something different than your standard lovey-dovey Valentine’s Day gift ideas because let’s face it, for some of us, V-Day ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. As I was sifting through the millions of books on Lulu, I came across this little gem:

Written for all the “love-scrooges” out there, this book is chock-full of hilarious takes on Valentine’s day coupons like: “Rub your own feet, they stink,” and brutally honest quips like: “You’re funnier when your drunk.” Tapping into the twisted humor that most of us think, but are too afraid to say out loud, this book is sure to make anyone, single or no, crack a smile. The mini-book comes in a set of three, so they are perfect for handing out as gag gifts, or for leaving on an ex’s doorstep. Enjoy, and happy “Extortion,” I mean Valentine’s Day!

Focus: Books That’ll Make You Grin

Some are about music, some about food, but mostly, ones that make me laugh.  Below are just a few recommendations for anyone looking for a grin.

Trevor Perry has a gift for taking the complicated things in life and turning them into good advice.  While ironing naked may be dangerous, Perry also reminds us to live with passion, to laugh often, and to constantly stand in awe of life itself.

The Torture Device Coloring Book
by Erik Ruhling

You might feel slightly guilty as you snicker at this coloring book clearly not intended for children.  This coloring book’s irreverent humor is reminiscent of artwork by one of my favorite artists Brandon Bird. In Ruhling’s book, colorers can explore all sorts of historical torture devices, each with an accompanying rhyme. Stay within the lines or you will be punished.
