Pride: Bridgeover Sundown
PRIDE; BRIDGEOVER SUNDOWN.
At seventeen, Glen Steele's life is full of myths and misses, and he feels the paternalistic government of modern times has robbed him of his destiny. The Steele family myth calls for boys to be men by the time they're seventeen. Soldiers, settlers, lovers and losers march in his lineage, but Glen is still at school, and even his losses are second hand. Glen yearns for adventure and rites of passage, so when his sister goes on her honeymoon, he borrows her car, a state-of-the-art Bradman Pride, and hits the road for the Outback Highway.
At first, the experience is liberating, but soon Glen realises nothing has changed. The outback has been tamed by the straight red road and the automated servomats he encounters at regular intervals. It's all too easy… until – the next town fades off the map, and the servo isn't there. Disoriented, Glen finds his way to the ghost town of Bridgeover, where the adventure begins.

THE HOLMES AND WATSON MYSTERIOUS EVENTS AND OBJECTS CONSORTIUM: THE CASE OF THE WITCH’S TALISMAN
Kevin and Ginny are best friends. They enjoy spending their summer vacations exploring Sharper's Woods, coming up with neat experiments, pretending to be Sherlock Holmes and Mister Watson, and sometimes just sitting in the clubhouse of The Holmes and Watson Mysterious Events and Objects Consortium. They are the only members of the club, but that doesn't stop them from having fun. Sometimes their exploring gets them into trouble, either for going somewhere they shouldn't have or by finding something that was better left unfound. In this case, it is a strange metal object, a talisman, which calls forth, unbeknownst to Kevin and Ginny, a powerful witch.
The kids do know that weird events have been happening in their small town. Animals have been found dead, and then they disappear. The metal object they found has a strange effect on Ginny when she touches it. It will take all their detective skills and courage to solve the mystery, and to defeat the witch once they realize who they are up against.

Officer Gentry and the Ghost of Mavis Adder
Officer Gentry is eleven years old. One embarrassment in his life is his father, who spends a great deal of time inventing things. In this book Officer finds a television remote control stuffed down the back of the settee in his living room, only it isn’t a remote control at all, but a time machine. With a friend of his, the intelligent Vicky Simpson, he uses it and finds himself back in Victorian times. But things aren’t going to be as easy as he thought they might be. Everywhere he goes there seems to be danger. He bumps into a Victorian boy, Charles, but the boy’s father is a brutal drunkard who they have to escape from. They hide in a church porch where they are scared witless by, of all things, a ghost! Eventually the three children are cornered in a cellar with only one entrance, and the brutal drunkard is fumbling his way through it. They must escape, but where to? Or rather, when to?
The story skips along at a break-neck speed as they negotiate dangers in strange times.

" 'Santa's SUV' has a great groove and keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next cool lyric. A cheery romp from a wonderful songwriter into his art. Hammie, the Soccer Playing Hamster
Illustrations by Brad Joyce
Hammie is named after Mia Hamm, the greatest female soccer playing human in the history of the game.
"Hammie, the soccer-playing hamster, is a delightful character whose mother and father taught her to play soccer. The championship game they were playing in was dramatic and exciting. Teamwork is the moral of this story. Wonderfully drawn pictures by Brad Joyce are great including the coloring pages for the children.
'Hammie, The Soccer Playing Hamster' is one of the most delightful stories I have read in awhile. There is a moral to be learned in this happy children’s tale. A great read for the youngsters. I highly recommend it to all children who like to read and color." Rating: 5 of 5 stars
