I believe I will always remember the first Caitlin Spice story I read. It was so, so good. “How is this woman not famous?” I wondered. I just had to purchase her published writings and I have been richly rewarded by The Silver Path. Throughout her collection of stories, Spice gives eloquent voice to the misfit and outcast as her gorgeous descriptive writing blends perfectly with the originality and audacity of the content and themes. I also find great compassion and empathy, alongside a devilish cleverness, in her writing. Many of the stories in The Silver Path have to do with the fae, and I am not normally interested in fairies. No matter – her treatment of the fae as beautiful, unknown, nigh-demonic forces, yet also emblematic of a majesty lost to humans, kept me enthralled. Provided that I do not stumble into some dark fae curse, or one of the malevolently seductive objects of the type that Spice writes about with such detail and creativity, I plan on reading her works as I turn... More > wrinkled and grey. I hope that more people will become aware of Caitlin Spice’s work and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next. Beautiful work and, needless to say, highly, highly recommended.< Less

Every story is absolutely stunning. Like one of those terrible accidents, people can't help but stare in fascinated horror. Each and every story enraptured from start to finish. Very rarely have I encountered storytelling that astounds and assaults the mind, dragging the reader under kicking and screaming, bleeding for the rest of the tale to be told!

After greatly, greatly enjoying this author's works on Reddit, I was so excited that she released a book. I cannot recommend this enough to anyone who enjoys reading. I don't particularly like fiction, fantasy, horror (mild), or emotion-laden types of reading, but when they are all so magically combined into works of art, I can't stay away. The author's writing style is truly masterful. Each one of these stories left me exhausted, as the author paints the world the characters occupy, and the characters themselves (and their thoughts) so vividly that I feel like I came back from another reality. I'm telling you, give this a shot. The likes of JK Rowling cannot hold a candle to this author, I tell you. I've even purchased extra copies of the paperback to give to my friends. P.S. Best bathroom reading ever.

I grew up pouring over the book "Faeries" by Alan Lee and Brian Froud. I found Caitlin Spice's "The Silver Path" to scratch that same itch that I've had ever since! Most of the short stories have an element of well known Faerie lore- which in it's origins were all very dark! I love that each of these bite-sized stories are intriguing with a dark twist, and had me saying to myself, "oh just one more...." I'm looking forward to her next collection!
