Poetry has been a means of emotional expression for members of my family for generations. My mother and grandmother were poets. My son is a songwriter and musician, and uses his talent to work for environmental causes. My daughter is also a poet and a nature photographer. An Alaskan of over 30 years, much of my work deals with the environment, social commentaries, or things of a spiritual nature. Nearly all of my writing comes from something specific in my own experience, but I try to write in such a way that each reader can easily apply his or her own interpretation. I am proud to be a member of the Black Rose Poets Society and to share poetic growth with such a talented and multi-faceted group. I believe the language of poetry and music is universal, and that words spoken in this language may be heard where others fall on deaf ears. I hope you will enjoy reading ELEMENTAL EXPRESSION and find some thoughtful moments.
