The CATSPAW Kids of the Hollywood Children's Clubs of the Assistance League of Southern California in the video production of the story, The Music Machine which premiered at the Beverly Hills Independent Filmmakers Showcase in 1982. "...excellent original songs" wrote The L. A. Weekly. In 1984, the Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop at the Los Angeles Musical Center, the National Endowment of the Arts and the Minority Musical Theater Organization awarded grants and performed excerpts with professional actors and live musicians at the Barnsdall Gallery Theater. If any of you from CATSPAW (Children and Teenagers Performing Arts Workshop) are still out there, let me hear from you in the community room. I remember and appreciate your hard work and talent! I recovered this tape from among storage items in the chaos following the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. This edition complete with Ch. 1 Music Land scenes and song with entire cast!

The demonizing of other peoples is a seemingly universal human trait which has precipitated death and destruction through history. As populations expand and political boundaries become fuzzy we must search for and celebrate our similarities as well as our differences. Toward these ends this project is an exploration of ways to expand awareness that any situation has more than a single truth. Through a retelling of the traditional fairytale of Cinderella, this project attempts to show that appearances can be deceiving and each person in a situation can have a wildly different view from others. Through the integration of audio and animation the traditional written story is enhanced and expanded. When combined with the interactivity, typography and illustration Reading Cinderella provides a vibrant and enveloping world within which children can explore the unique strengths and weaknesses of the human spirit.
