CinquainPoets
The YahooGroups discussion e-mail list, CinquainPoets was created on July 26, 2001 by Deborah P. Kolodji as a way to reach out to other poets interested in the cinquain poetry form as developed by the Imagist poet, Adelaide Crapsey. At its most simple definition, a cinquain is a five line poem with a syllable pattern of 2-4-6-8-2.
As the group grew, CinquainPoets began to experiment with variations of the form, cinquain sequences, reverse cinquains (2-8-6-4-2 syllables), mirror cinquains (two stanzas, 2-4-6-8-2 then 2-8-6-4-2 syllables), crown cinquains (five stanza cinquain sequences), garland cinquains (a six stanza cinquain sequence where the final cinquain is formed from a line from each of the previous cinquains), and cinquain butterflies (which isn't a cinquain at all, but a merged mirror cinquain, a nine line poem of the pattern 2-4-6-8-2-8-6-4-2 syllables).
Currently with 98 members, CinquainPoets include some of the finest poets who are writing in cinquains today.
