Columbiad Press was formed primarily to publish Circle of Fire. Peter Barratt is 55 years of age and a lifelong Civil War 'buff'. He is a member of the American Civil War Round Table (UK) and lectures on the Civil War to historical groups and societies and has written articles on the subject and was technical adviser on a CD-Rom on the War Between the States. Circle of Fire is his first book and is the result of several years' research into the ship and those who served on her. Along with his partner Richard O'Sullivan (author of the history of the 55th Virginia Volunteers), they decided to form Columbiad Press in order to publish the narrative.
