I absolutely love Song of Blades and Heroes. It's just about the perfect rules-lite, fast-play fantasy skirmish game I can imagine. The rules are easy to learn and make sense. Games are short and furious and every turn is full of tactical decisions to make. The best thing is that your warband need have only 10 or less figures. So if you have a very random collection of mis-matched figures, you can still play. This is the perfect game if you love to paint whatever figure takes your fancy instead of slogging through massive 100 figure armies. I highly recommend this game, and for $4 what not give it a try?

This game is a blast! I bought it out of curiosity and I'm having lots of fun with it. With just two stats and the fastest combat system I've ever seen (you just roll d6, add a number and then compare it to your opponent's score getting four different results: recoil, knockdown, kill or gruesome kill), the fights are fast and furious, with no book-keeping. And on top of that, you can play with your existing miniatures. That's what I did -- I have a bunch of Warhammer figs although I don't play Warhammer anymore. The game plays very differently from anything else I tried -- the activation system is the best part of the game, and your tactical choices (such as stepping into a wooded area or moving your models in the command radius of your leader) really matter-- and watch out for those Assassins! five out of five stars.
