Duration: ca. 2:30. This fanfare is intended to be performed antiphonally (though it may be performed in traditional quartet seating arrangement). Each player should be in a corner of the performance space to form a square. Ideally, the two player at the back of the hall should be in the balcony. The intent is to create a large audience-encompassing space. As long as the players are arranged consecutively 1 – 4 it does not matter in which corner player 1 stands. A conductor may be needed to execute the piece in this fashion. Performable in the following combinations: 4 trumpets in C and 4 trombones / 4 trumpets in C / 4 trombones / 4 horns in F. Antiphonal Fanfare op. 10 was first performed by the New England Conservatory Honors Trombone Quartet in Jordan Hall, Boston 1997.
