Description:

"Stuck in My Own Family Tree" is a collection of nostalgic family stories. Starting with a stern Grossmutter, one cousin’s struggle to maintain her family in war-torn Europe, exciting births and tragic deaths, all these family members come to life in these pages. The previous generation of Pat’s family helped the Allies win World War II in the twentieth century by patrolling during blackouts and by building fighter planes. One cousin gave his life for our country from injuries sustained at the D-Day invasion. A succeeding generation, Pat’s family of nine, traveled to France for a year of struggle to fit in and learn the language. Children recall their methods of coping with school with a French flavor. Each new generation produces family stories of their own, some inspiring, some so awesome they are hard to believe, some just plain funny. Stewart uses her knack for storytelling to pass on tales that will inspire and amuse the next generations. It is a heartwarming trip down memory lane.

I really liked this book a lot. One thing I found is that each chapter stands on its own, but also builds on from the other chapters. So you can read each chapter like a short story, but they all combine together into one story. The stories are funny, sad and moving. Buy it for yourself, or better yet one of your own family members.

For anyone out there that thinks you have a "colorful" family after going to your family reunion, you will get a kick out of this book. My wife and I have both read the book and we loved it. Our son Jackson, who is an avid reader, was really excited when I told him his Grandma Pat published a book. When he actually saw the book with her name on it he lit up and said "Wow. I bet you're really proud of your mom". He was right. Good job mom, we are all really proud of all of your accomplishments!

A wonderful and historical account of a family as they progress from the turn of the 20th century to today. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.
