Description:

To law enforcement agencies across the globe, The League of Undetermined Evil was a deadly phantom, an insidious enigma, and an evil rumor that just might have been responsible for most of the serious crime that plagued the planet Earth. But to "Bam-Bam" Pendleton & his amazing, eccentric crew in The Anti-Crime Corps, the League was a terrifying truth, a malicious reality, and an arch enemy that had to be destroyed! Part absurdist satire, part violent action-adventure, Bam2 Pendleton: The Human Weapon contains more exclamation points than any novel in history. We counted them. NOW: also available in 6x9 large-print trade paperback format at www.lulu.com/content/6204444.

Very funny- but for smart readers.

Imagine if T.S. Eliot's J. Alfred Prufrock were a superhuman, artificial man created to fight crime (and striking out an evil Scientology type organization, among othere foes)...and that's sort of who this "Bam-Bam" Pendleton is- a man with little or no dynamic humanity who must, nevertheless, carry on in spite of things.

I laughed many many times, but often I thought to myself how many readers would actually "get" some to the references. Still, this book (which I found abandoned--or planted--in an airport lounge, by the way) is more inventive than a lot of fiction out there. It's not so much science fiction as it is science silliness. I found a few typos, but one must assume the author is working without a proper editor.

Worth a look!
Great fun! [ No Rating ] 25 Jan 2008
Bam-Bam Pendleton is quite a ride! The guy is like James Bond or maybe Doc Savage (in fact, the writer makes a funny reference to the 1930s hero!) but his weird team reminds me more of Buckaroo Banzai. I'm sure that this is intentional, since a story this weird and involved has to be written by someone who loves goofy science fiction!

It has parts that remind one of PLANET OF THE APES, and also a few references to several movies, but the story is NOT a parody of anything in particular.

An evil mysterious force is attacking the world, but only some people believe it exists. Enter Pendleton the Human Weapon and his crew who try to destroy this most arch enemy without dying in the process. Plus, if you've ever envied a big brother, you will identify with the end!

I liked it and reccommend it!
Fun, but sometimes off-color [ No Rating ] 26 Oct 2007
This is a very entertaining first novel. While it is not realistic in any way, the story is very complex and imaginative. Sometimes it reminded me of a Harry Harrison novel (his funny ones). The characters are very lively, though some might be offended by the 16 year old girl who regularly shoots guns, kills people, and is apparently very sexually active (mentioned briefly), most of the story is just a mixture of exciting action and oddball humor. I especially enjoyed the robot.

If you aren't offended by, say, The Simpsons, you will probably enjoy this.
