Description:

This is the American edition of 'Grammar and Vocabulary Games for Children'. It is a resource book for teachers and home-schooling parents who want to make their children’s grammar and vocabulary lessons fun. Grammar, punctuation, phonics, vocabulary and proverbs are all presented in the form of fifty active games. At the end of a formal lesson, these activities can be given as a reward for hard work, or to reinforce the topic just studied. For restless children who need to stretch their legs and let off steam before they knuckle down to further work, the games presented in this book provide the perfect solution. Several of the vocabulary games are designed to help ESL students to practice their new words, and all the games encourage children to listen, concentrate and stay focused on the topic of study. The activities are aimed at children between the ages of 7 and 13 years. Grammar lessons and vocabulary building will never be boring when children are offered the games in this book.

I home-school my children and we use this book on home-schoolers' get-togethers with other families. The children learn their grammar lessons at home, and then we play the games in this book in the park with the other home-schoolers. The children all love these games, which are active and fun, but also help them to revise their English grammar and vocabulary. The games are fun for parents to watch too, and I've learnt a few things about English that I didn't know before I read this book. If you want your children to develop a love of English, as well as a good knowledge of how grammar works, then you should check this book out.
