This book is a rich, visual document of the six week event. How City Running worked: From a central base (the Phoenix Studio Galleries), the City Runners (artists from a variety of creative disciplines), were sent into the city at 11 pm with one hour to complete a reconnaissance, gather material, or execute an intervention. At midnight the City Runners returned to base and had two hours to create a piece of work inspired from what they had seen and experienced in the city. The City Runners then presented this work to their peers and a public audience at 2 am. The work and its creative process was explained to the group. A discussion developed with questions from the audience and artist response, examining the creative process and the relation of the artists work to the city environment. Listed in: |
