This question has been asked for centuries, and every art critic has a different answer. Follow the journey of notable American artist Allan Linder through three decades of artwork, as he hones his skill while overcoming life’s obstacles. This fourth generation artist works within the precincts of paint on canvas, sculpture in many mediums, and drawing on paper. His work is exhibited and collected worldwide. Linder’s work ranges from abstract concepts, to his most recent paintings that depict realistic scenes of New York City in various seasons. The subject matter ranges from moments of peaceful silence in a burgeoning and populated locale, to busy street scenes in the heart of Time Square. With more than 150 full color photographs of his most important work, this book is a compliment to any art history collection, and the topic of many conversations. Keywords:Listed in: |

Allan Linder is an award winning artist that works mainly in acrylic on canvas. His style is so flexible that it seems he can paint almost anything any way. His subject matter is New York City in his recent works but much more obscure in older paintings. The co - author Todd Gunzelman, an inventor and designer himself, is a seamless writer, bringing out the very best of Allan Linder's interesting past and his artwork.
Though Allan Linder works mostly in acrylic paint, the book doesn't dwell on specific techniques, instead it addresses the artist’s journey through a tumultuous childhood and his path to the New York art scene. Throughout the book there are interesting facts about the artist and his ideas. There are also very interesting critiques from various sources about some of his major works. I would buy this book for the “Transitions” section alone.
The writing style is refreshing, with very personal details written by the artist and inspirational quotes by some of the greatest minds of our times. It’s pretty neat, definitely something to read over and over again. The photos of Allan’s paintings are beautiful. If you own any of his work then you must have this book. Unfortunately, I only have one small sketch. In short, this is about the best "Coffee Table Art Book” by a living artist I have seen. It’s almost like being in the same room with the artist.
