LyX is a great word processor. With LyX, you do not need to know about book or document layout. Just focus on your writing and LyX will take care of formatting a perfect document for you!

Although not many people know about LyX, my friend and I heard about it from another friend in Europe last year. We tried to download and install it. But I could never finish the installation successfully. My friend somehow was successful with the installation. But she was not happy with the PDF output, which was too light to be readable. We thought that LyX was designed specifically for European computer users. So we did not bother to think about LyX again.

Recently, I came across this book. Since the author said that he used LyX to write this book and he also said that if you follow his instructions you could use LyX to produce the same book as this book or even better. I took his words for it. So I bought and downloaded a copy of this book.

I was able to complete the download and installation of LyX without any problem. And within a couple of hours playing with LyX together with the author, I was able to produce my first document in LyX! Its PDF output came out so perfectly clear and beautiful!

The book gives a detail focus on the installation part and the PDF generating part. These two things have caused most new LyX users to give up using it. Therefore, if you are new to LyX, I strongly recommend that you should get this book. It will save you a lot of frustration.

Not only this book helps you avoid the initial stumbling blocks in LyX, it also has a great way of teaching that helps you master LyX in just a few hours.

I will use LyX for most of my writings from now on. If you are using Word, Wordperfect, OpenOffice Writer, or another word processor for your writings, you should get this book and give LyX a try. I am sure you will be surprisingly satisfied!

I did not know what LyX could really do. But only 5 bucks to try it out, why not? I said to myself. So, I had my grandson, a fifth grader, download this ebook for me. The boy was curious about the WYPIWYL (What You Play Is What You Learn) teaching method that the author mentioned in the book. So he went right on reading the book after he had downloaded it while I was busy working in my backyard.

After dinner, the boy showed me the impressive printout of his term paper that his school had assigned to him to write about George Washington Carver. I asked him where he got that paper. He told me that he had prepared it all by himself by following the instructions in this book. I was totally astonished. His term paper looked even more professional than the estate documents that my lawyer had prepared for me!

When my son saw his nephew's impressive term paper, he quickly followed the instructions in this book to download and install LyX on his computer. The next morning he came to me with a giant grin on his face and his so professionally prepared thesis was in his hand. He hugged me so hard and kissed me non-stop. "You're my great pal! How did you manage to find this great stuff? This LyX software is so cool and this book really does a great job of teaching it!" said he. I had never seen my son so happy and so close to me. I was so happy and so emotionally moved!
