An excellent read Karina, i loved the characters and could picture each one of them engaging in their gang activities, and their shocking path to maturity. I felt disappointed when i reached the end because i wanted to read on and on as i was so engaged. Can not wait to read Huntress and many many more.

As I read Karina's book, In Times of Violence, a profound message about our modern day violence of terrorism jumped out at me. The first suggestion of this message was in the way Karina gradually escalated the violence from simple "gang attitude," to gang fighting to the eventual final act of violence. In addition to this gradual escalation, Karina also makes a strong point about the "rules of violence." Even in our civilized world, we have rules of violence, namely the Geneva convention and rules of engagement. When certain gang members break these rules, all hell breaks loose. Much like terrorism has broken loose in our real world. An engaging read. Thank you Karina.

Great book, great read, great story line. A book I couldn't put down even though it's nothing like I'd usually read. Well done Karina.

The story of Jade and her life lessons is absorbing and engagingly written. The characters are well-drawn, and come across as real people, with flaws and virtues. Recommendd reading.
