Description:

This personal memoir, tracks a two year journey recounting the ever increasing cases of financial abuse amongst our seniors and elderly. It is the most common form of elder abuse, but also the most unreported form of crime. After learning of the betrayal of a trusted employee, the truth is uncovered, revealing seniors who were fraudulently abused in their own homes. The stories reflect the vulnerability of our loved ones who placed their trust in their caregivers. Their worst fears became a reality, with many never even realizing it was happening to them. These crimes happen in our society, more than we want to acknowledge or admit. In many cases those who prey upon the elderly go unpunished, and easily move on to their next victim.

Made me realize so many things about my Mother and Father's last years. I read the book in Jamaica, and passed it on to friends to read and share. A great job, waiting to get your next book.

This book, Caregiver or Taker is an eye-opener to the things that can go all wrong when you hire someone like Maureen Branden. J.W. keeps you wanting to read on. Anyone who has aging parents, or those in the Caregiving Industry should read this book! From the beginning until the end the author kept me interested in wondering what was going to happen next. I didn't want to put the book down until I was finished. I was extremely pleased with the warning that was given here regarding Caregivers.

I just finished reading this book and found myself actually crying over some of the acts that were pulled on the elderly. My heart also goes out to Jackie who had to bear the brunt of this horrible charade. Everyone should read this great book. The chapters are short and the reading is quick but the message it sends will be you forever after you read it. This is like a mystery that keeps you in suspense on every page. I hope you try to write some more Jackie because you have shown you have a great talent for it. I loved every minute of this book. I am now passing it around at my mom's elderly housing for all of them to read and will try to get a note from each one that reads it. Good Luck and Thank's Jackie! Barbara W. Wargo,Southbury, CT

guess my son says it best when he runs around the house yelling WOW. Congrats on a magnificent book. It made me cry, laugh, cry some more, and burn red with anger. I can't believe how despicable and self-rightous one person could be. She is UNBELIEVABLE!

You are a very courageous woman. I have always respected you as a boss, although short lived, and as a boss and friend to my mom. Now that respect and admiration has increased more.

These events in your life, the client's and caregivers, definitely show the strength you share. You should be proud of yourself. I can only hope that when and if the time comes, that we have to have someone look after our mom, they are on the good side. I would not have the patience and politeness as some.

Again, Congratulations and I will do everything in my power to spread your words.
