Description:

Joseph Lee Robinson lived from 1811 to 1893. Like many Americans of his time he was part of the great movement west. Starting from his birthplace in Vermont he and his family moved first to New York then to Nauvoo, Illinois where they joined the largest organized migration in American history, the Mormon exodus to the Utah Territory. There the Robinsons settled in several branches and wrested a living from the desert. Robinson was elected a justice of the peace and served as a lay leader of his local church congregation. His journal reveals him to be a devoted father and husband, a friendly, confident man motivated by an unwavering faith in God. 388 pages. Includes timeline charts, maps, photos and an additional section of correspondence. Edited by Oliver Preston Robinson.
