My wife is in love with this book! She met the author a couple months ago and demanded that I bought this book. I got it for her brand new at half.com for like 12.95. Some places like A1 books is selling it for like 20 bucks. I think half.com has the best deal for the paperback. The download price here aint bad tho. Its worth reading... its something original. I don't really read books, I'm a movie guy. But I checked it out over the holidays. I thought it was a pretty damn good story! Plus lots of sex, drugs and violence. Cant go wrong there.

I'd give it ten stars if I could. Ok, so its not super long. If you want to spend the next yeat reading one book, read War and Peace. The thing about BulletTime is that it gets to the point. Sure there's back story and character building, but E. Faison didn't spend a ridiculous amount of time focusing on unnecessary story telling elements. He brings you into each character's world, tells you why they are who they are, gives you their current situation, brings the conflict, climax, and closure. There are no boring, lengthy explanations that waste time. He gives you just enough to develop a connection, and builds from there. I read the book in about a week, and I really loved it. And trust me, its worth getting the paperback. Download it if you can't wait for shipping, or if you're low on cash, but you'll enjoy the book either way. I think the synopsis/description of the book could have been more detailed, but there are so many surprises in the book, maybe it was vague for a reason. Either way, I came up with my own synopsis, being careful not to give too much of the story away (hope you don't mind, E. Faison): Ezekiel Grey, a bounty hunter who, due to health reasons, is on the verge of retirement. He goes to Mississippi for his final job: to capture a fugitive who also happens to be a member of the Wraiths, a powerful organization, consisting of ex-military and ex-cons, that has been taking over the Gulf Coast since Katrina. They are not going to let one of theirs go down without a fight.
Ash Calibre, a Private Investigator with a dark past, goes to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, and is contracted to find a woman's missing sister. Upon searching for the girl, he gets mixed up with the Wraiths, and must also face some pretty twisted demons from his own past.
Vincent Cross, a slightly crooked Miami cop who is hunting someone who hurt a family member. His hunt takes him across the country and ends up in Mississippi and Louisiana, where he too has to deal with the Wraiths. Three different, but connected stories. And they all take place during Mardis Gras 2008. 154 pages of action, intrigue, suspense, plot twists, and tons of noir elements. A fantastic story that is perfect for anyone who reads noir or hardcore type books. Something original from a fresh new author, that is bound to be an underground classic! But don't take my word for it, read it for yourself!

I agree with the other reviewers regarding how good of a book it is, but I cannot give it the full 6/6 stars, due to the few issues above. Granted, the book is good enough to make you forget the few flaws, (surprisingly good, in fact) but I felt that it could have been a tad longer, and the paperback price is a little high. The irony is, the download price seems low for this book. ($13 paperback, and $8 Download would be perfect, in my opinion.) Still, it was one of the best books I've read in a long time. And when it comes to books, movies, music, and games, I am hard to please. 5/6

I couldn't put Bullettime down. It had me from the first page till the last one. It tells an original story with familiar elements. I enjoyed the plot twists, and the different characters. I also enjoyed the graphic violence. (The casino shootout being my personal favorite)The various cities, and different locations were detailed, either the author actually visited these places, or he really did his research. I really can't say anything negative about this book. I took a chance buying it, not being familiar with the author. But after reading his myspace page, I found out more about E. Faison and Bullettime. He is a new author and this is his first book. Well he nailed it the first time out. Beginner's luck maybe. Or maybe it's skill. Whatever it is, I really think this author will be big, and this book has the potential to be a top seller. I can also see Bullettime as a movie. I also be on the look out for future titles from this new author.

This book was a lot better than I expected. I loved it!! Chapter 2 was by far the best, but the story as a whole was excellent! I could tell the author is very detail oriented, and wanted the reader to 'see' what his characters see. From details like the bruises on a woman's nether-regions after a night of apparent rough sex, to the color of someones brain matter as it gets splattered across a wall from a high caliber bullet. My favorite part? Ash Calibre wakes up from a drunken, drug induced slumber to see a naked woman on his bed "Nice ass" he tells her. She says "Yeah you told me that last night while your tongue was in it" I almost dropped the book from laughing so hard at that, and what Ash does next. Hilarious! There are a few comedic parts but mostly this book is serious and hardcore. It reminded me of the noir books I used to read as a kid, only a lot darker. The book pulls no punches. There are no heroes, only anti-heroes. Maybe Ezekiel Grey is the closest to a straight-edge protagonist, but he had his flaws as well. Ash Calibre? Basket Case! That's why I like him so much. Vince Cross just seems to be a victim of circumstance. But he did what anyone would hope to do in his situation, but few would have the balls to do it. The characters all have traits that you can relate to and that's why you root for them no matter what the situation is. I hated when I finished the book because I wanted more. And its been a long time since I felt that connection to a fictional character. After the end of the story, in one of the last pages of the book, there is mention of follow-up books to come, and I can't wait to read them. Well done, E. Faison. Well done. Hopefully this book gets the recognition it deserves.

I somewhat agree with the other guy's review. This really is a great book. I found the link on myspace too and decided to download it. Its a good story, the way its all tied together is pretty cool. I think the violence in it is pretty brutal though. I liked it but its not something I would recomend for kids under 17. Its VERY graphic, when someone gets shot, and in the fight scenes, its very descriptive, like as if I was watching a movie instead of reading a book. The thing I liked most is how it sometimes used the whole slo-mo bullet thing from like Max Payne and the Matrix, but it didn't overuse it and make the book cheesy. Its a pretty gritty story, and I think it would make a cool movie. Its got humor in it too, like dark comedy though, nothing corny. Its actually a pretty dark book overall. I like the second chapter the best. The charactor Ash Caliber is the coolest. But they're all pretty dope. I read it in like a week. And I don't think its too short, or confusing. Its probably one of the best books I've read this year. I definitly got my monies worth the $5.50 download, but I might get the actual book as a gift for someone for Christmas. (Or maybe I'll keep it and give her the download) So buy it if you like a lot of action, and a good story with that keeps your attention. But don't let the kiddies read this one. ******

I found out about this book on the author's myspace page. He has a few blogs up with details about the story and it seemed like an interesting storyline. It took about a week to receive it, but after reading it, I must say, I am impressed! I read through it in a day because I couldn't put it down! There are so many twists and crazy things going on, and I actually read through it again the next day, because I wanted to make sure I covered all the details, and didn't miss anything. There were times during the first time I read it, where I got a little confused, but it all comes together in the end. I don't want to spoil it for potential buyers, but I will say this: I thought it was one story, but there are three different stories, and the stories are all connected in several ways. You'll be surprised at the way Mr. Faison brings the stories together and the different points of view for the different characters. Even his style seemed to change a little for each character. It was pretty intriguing. Anyway, the book is great I'd give it a 9.5 out of ten, because it could've been longer. 154 pages isn't too bad, but I would've like to see maybe 200 pages or more. Other than the length, the story is great, the mood, the settings, the over the top action, the characters, all top notch material. I look forward to more books from E. Faison!
