Description:This is a reprint of the famous poem 'The Pied Piper of Hamelin' in illustrated book form, scanned from a Victorian edition. One look at the illustrations will make you realise why such preservation is vital, they are stunning. As you can see by the copyright notice, this is a joint effort between my cousin, his grand-daughter, and yours truly. A real family affair but spread over 15,000 miles! The book has passed through several hands over the years, with the earliest recorded owner ( in 1892 ), being Margaret Pilkington, a member of the Pilkington Glass family of St. Helen's, important names in their time here in the UK. It last changed hands in 1942, when it came into the posession of a lady who would become my cousin by marriage. Please do take a look, and as ever, enjoy. John Haines Listed in: |
