Bravo! Ms. McLeod has written a terrific debut novel. I can only hope that she will develop her characters into a series!
Soul and Shadow receives five blue ribbons from Romance Junkies!
Lily Evans can't wait to take in the latest exhibit at the local museum. The mummified remains of Amisihathor hold appeal and a wealth of knowledge. Lily can’t get enough, her studies; her dreams all revolve around this ancient land. Soon the past and present will collide and Lily will find herself in the midst of the storm.
Her chance meeting with the archeologist who discovered the tomb of Amisihathor and the priest Kahotep may seem to be accidental but as a mystery is uncovered Lily will soon see all things are happening for a reason and that walking the path of discovery may be riddled with danger.
Added to that Lily meets the man of her dreams, has to deal with her boss and all his demands, her eccentric mother and her ex-fiancé it seems is back in town. Her whole world is changing daily and if she can't sort it all out and fast Amisihathor may never find peace.
SOUL AND SHADOW is a deep and complex tale of deceit, danger and love. Well plotted and extremely engaging this novel is more than your typical romance, it’s full of vivid images and a story so engrossing that I couldn’t put it down.
Ms. McLeod knows her Egyptology and she manages to weave a story that is bold and yet never left me feeling confused. As one not as versed in Egyptian lore I was able to understand and interpret the information while still remaining fully immersed in the story line.
Lily, who is unquestionably the key element of this stellar offering is strong, competent and very independent. She takes charge and moves ahead even as things begin to unravel never faltering in her quest and above all else is extremely likable.
SOUL AND SHADOW exposes you to a new world to discover and a time in history that blends well with the romance genre. I sincerely hope that Ms. McLeod will continue her writings of Egypt and I look forward to whatever she comes up with next.

I couldn't put this book down. I loved the way that history became a part of the story and brought to life characters that are thousands of years old! I am looking forward to Ms. McLeod's next mystery.

Great story!! I really enjoyed reading it. Keeps you guessing......
This is an outstanding first work by this author. I learned more about ancient Egyptian culture from this book than I ever have from scholarly works, because the author was able to make it feel much more immediate. She was able to make Amisihathor really come alive for me. The intertwining of the present and past was seamless and added greatly to the story. I look forward with great anticipation to the next work by this gifted storyteller.
Great first novel! Very interesting story and characters. Parallel storylines between the past and present were seamlessly interwoven, and the vivid language made me feel as if I were transported back to ancient Egypt.
I look forward to reading more of this author's work.
