Description:

Reading level: Ages 13 and up

“This quick page-turner takes us deep inside the human mind, and reminds us that it’s no match for a mouse! With humor and wit, Choo Choo spins a fantastic true tale of valor, tactical determination, and compassion. If you’ve ever had an uninvited furry guest, for goodness sake, read this book!” Adam Wilson, Founder of the Toronto Animal Rights Society and Downbound.com

“This is a delightful story about a mouse who has taken up residence in the Professor and Choo Choo’s house. Despite a number of different humane traps and various attempts at capture, this tiny intruder manages to elude two “very smart” humans for seven days. But this story is really a journey of discovery in disguise. It is about awakening to the realization that the many little creatures, often considered beneath contempt, are living beings whose lives are of value to them.” Tove Reece, Founder and Director, Voice for Animals Society.

Lovable story! [ No Rating ] 30 May 2006
I enjoyed this story very much. It is a vividly described and humorous situation that most people can identify with and have been in the same predicament at some time in their life. Ms. Love has a very colorful writing style full of imagery.

No confusing plots or complicated twists here, just a little book with a lot of heart! Ms. Love uses warmth and humour to explore the concept that empathy for others can help foster stewardship in all of us, and a bit of imagination and creativity go a long way in solving problems. This is a lovely and engaging book and I'd recommend it to anybody who's up for the challenge of possibly having another look at a species whom we've been taught to view as enemies, and consider that given half a chance, they just might turn out to be friends! I'm so glad I read this book and I'm pretty sure that the mice who shared my apartment for a couple of weeks in February would agree! I hope Ms. Love will write a sequel and that we haven't heard the last of Willie!
Mouse rights (writes)! [ No Rating ] 1 Nov 2005
In this engaging and funny story, we learn that even some of the smallest, least loved (by some people) critters should have the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness! I can't wait for Choo Choo to defend the rights of roaches!

Do animals have rights? After reading this delightful book you might reconsider. Most of us view mice as undesirable vermin. However, Willie, a small house mouse, proves to be intelligent and resourceful as he avoids the efforts of the Professor and his wife to rid their home of Willie.

Although this is an incredibly funny book (the final letter is the funniest item I have ever read) it also touches on important and difficult issues about fair treatment to animals. A terrific read.
