Description:

Teresa Capasso cannot believe that today the last of her three daughters is getting married. As the wedding preparations and rituals move forward, Teresa has reason to suspect that her youngest daughter's husband is physically abusing her. For the sake of another daughter's wedding, she is forced to temper her concern. It is harder than she imagines. Teresa thinks how different her own wedding day had been, a seeming lifetime ago in the small mountain village of Torrecuso, Italy. Like Wine chronicles not only what is special and unique about Italian culture on both sides of the Atlantic, it is about a young woman who took control of her destiny. Teresa's story takes us through 30 years of challenging, humorous and touching experiences of her international marriage, which comes to a modern day climax on the day of her daughter's wedding.

Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. I don't know much about Italian customs or culture, so I especially enjoyed when Theresa flashbacked to her own love story.

From: aklein@wolffsamson.com. This is a heartwarming and compassionate story. As I read it, I felt like I was an eyewitness to the entire saga of how these two people met and how their feelings emerged. Going back and forth in time made it even more appealing. This is a definite must-read for anyone who has ever loved. I absolutely recommend it.
Wonderful!

Like Wine is a definite book to put on your wish list! I loved the characters and the descriptions that were used throughout the book. I felt like I was there in Italy with the characters, and I coud feel the emotions portrayed in the book as if they were my own. The story of the mother (Teresa) and how she came to know her husband (Antonio) is such an endearing part of the story. It adds a lot to the background of the novel and helps you see what a bonded and close knit family they have. Fabulous work, Lucille! Bravo! Definitely add this to your list of books to read.

This book was great! I flew through it. I really connected with the characters. I loved the juxtaposition of the courtship/wedding of Theresa reflected in the wedding day of her daughter. The tour through the Amalfi coast was great; I felt like I was right there.

Definitely a good read!

The contrast of Teresa's wedding to her daughters was very interesting and quite remarkable. Like Wine held my interest and I found that the further I got into it, the faster it went. I finished the book in a weekend and found it thoroughly entertaining!

I read this book in two days! While the main character, Teresa, tells her story about meeting and falling in love, the present story takes place on one day--Teresa's middle daughter's wedding. I moved with her effortlessly as she took me on a journey through her past, to Naples and the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii and then Rome. At her daughter's present-day wedding, I felt like I was one of the guests at the reception, living it along with her, and moving forward just as quickly. An enjoyable, entertaining and nostalgic read!
