When I first heard of Lance D'Escimo's first book, dinner of leeks, I must admit I was skeptical of the quality. Soon after opening up the book I was engulfed in this down to earth world, familiar but yet unknown to me. The path the protagonist is on, is filled with adversities and familiar faces. He even has a short run in with a mythical being, without the story losing it's strong yet gentle grip on reality. It is touching to see how much Lance loves his characters, it shines through the writing and his brutal honesty with their flaws create a beautiful contrast. This is without a doubt the greatest novel released this millenium. Reccomended for everyone.
