Great Reading! [ No Rating ] 17 Dec 2005

I read Dragonfly Sauce all in one sitting. That is how entertaning and original I found it to be. It made me smile and stunned me all in the same breath.

Looking forward to more.

Budd is a "Meistro" in modern literature [ No Rating ] 16 Sep 2005
I found this script to be an inspirational look into the development of youth into an “every man” perspective of life from one who obviously experiences it to its full in all its woes and splendor. I thought the format of poetry into story (I’m assuming true) was clever. I would compare the author to a modern day Samuel Clemens and give this a 3.5 star rating for style and content. Could use some editing though.

The style of the writing in this book is very different then I've seen. It caught me off guard at first and I didn't know how I felt about it, but as the pages went by I found myself enjoying it more and more. I do believe it gets better as it goes. The content is interesting and often emotional, commonly touching on issues I can relate to. I'm sure others will feel the same, which in a sense, considering the topics is unfortunate. The author's descriptions are very witty and unusual. I expect he will only get better from here. There is definitely a future in writing here. I look forward to reading the next and the next after that.

The contents reveal a heart that was broken long ago by disappointment stemming from the horrors created by a step-parent---yes, broken but not destroyed. This book has heart---a scarred one, of course, but it's defiantly intact.

Budd seems like a gentle soul with great spikes of anger shooting through his mortal being. His writing moves quickly and with a lyrical quality---and he is truly a serious writer. His 20+ years at the craft shows itself through refined sentences that are far from one-offs written on the spur of the moment and then rushed into book-form. This guy takes all the time needed to get the lines just right.

Damn good book of poetry and short bits of prose. I will read it again and again over the years.

Keep at it Budd!

I read this book in two days while on vacation and I didn't want to put it down. The words paint a unique picture of people and life and it isn't always pretty, but Dragonfly Sauce takes an honest look at it all and it doesn't flinch.
Great book... [ No Rating ] 11 Aug 2005
Dragonfly Sauce is a book that takes you, kicks you around a bit and leaves you with a bit of wonder. It's neccessarily a tradtional book of poetry, it is a bit experimental if you will, but I enjoyed it and I hope Brandon Budd can keep up the good and unique work.
