Caught up in the whirlwind romance, she was unaware that she had been chosen as an experiment for a cure to the genetic interbreeding defects of his remote village. Raj’s people were descendants from the soldiers of Alexander the Great. His fight to reinstate their former glory turns him not only against his chosen mate, but against his own people who will not defile the purity of their caste and their own violent God, Jamlu. In a sinister twist, their newborn child is chosen to be the sacrificial lamb for Jamlu and Lea is forced to escape her living hell as she ventures into the harsh wilderness of Zanskar, on the Indo-Tibetan border. Barely escaping an avalanche, she emerged a changed woman and confident single mother, having gone through the fires of betrayal, loss and love. Keywords:Listed in: |

An enthralling novel of obsession and intrigue set against the spectacular backdrop of the Himalayas. The authenticity of the setting can only be created by someone who has lived there. Ms Guyll transports us there successfully to see for ourselves what life would be like.
The story centres on a young geneticist, Lea who finds the prince of her dreams, Raj is a ruthless, manipulative drug addict who wants to steal their child to save his high caste race from inbreeding
Meticulously researched Ms. Guyll has created characters that are believable, the villainy of Raj and naivety of Lea entwine in a story that will make people want to read on. It is not just another love story. Far from it when Lea is stuck in the rustic mountains, feeling no better than a lab rat, she struggles to come to terms with a clash of cultures, drugs and lifestyles.
In her bid to escape we travel with her through snow-blocked mountains surviving avalanches and ferocious bears.
Ms Guyll writes with passion in an easy to read style flavoured with the taste, sights and sounds of India. Valley of the Gods is definitely worth reading.
