In Mathew 13 Jesus tells a series of seven parables starting with the phrase "The Kingdom of God is like .....". Even though parables are not to be used as allegories, Jesus himself explained it as allegories and states that in years to come new meanings will be found in them. Here is an attempt to explain these seven parables as the development of Christianity through history. the point is that it fits.
