Description:

A guide book for exploring spiritual alchemy, magical practice, the cultivation and use of several of the Sacred Teacher Plants, and the constructive application of altered states. Covers such magical applications as conjuring illusions, healing and necromancy, and basic alterations of the Material Plane. This guide also includes a complete break-down of existence itself, with a detailed explanation of the Seven Planes of Existence. It was my wish to disclose the "secrets" that others are bound by oath to not reveal, and in so doing, to reinforce and invigorate the magical practices of our day.

Reviewed by EDAIN McCOY, author of ADVANCED WITCHCRAFT, IF YOU WANT TO BE A WITCH, & PAST-LIFE AND KARMIC TAROT

I had the great pleasure of reading prepublished excerpts from ERIK McBRIDE's book, AWAKENING, during a lengthy and thought provoking e-mail exchange last winter and spring. He brought up many concepts about the universality of shamanic practice that I thought I knew, but he forced me to probe the deeper corners of the subject. Over the time of our correspondence I found I'd formed new concepts about the role of the shaman in the long past, and of shamanism as it is practiced today. Whether you choose to agree or disagree with DR. McBRIDE's research and presentation, you will know you have read a book that is going to force you to rethink some standard teachings about shamanism we've all come to accept, and the new ideas it generates will continue expanding your mind in new directions for quite some time to come. This is a "must read" for any practitioner of nature spirituality.
