Free Sample Edit

Authors may request a free custom sample edit and quote. Completing a sample allows us to familiarize ourselves with an author's work, while allowing authors the opportunity to review our editorial style and format prior to making a final decision or purchasing a service. Editing quotes will include total job fee, requested or recommended edit level, turnaround, and possible start dates. (There is no obligation to purchase a service.) Each sample will consist of at least 2 - 5 pages of the work.

To prepare your sample edit, we will request the following:

Your name
The title of your book
The general subject matter of your book
The full word count of your manuscript
The service or services for which you would like to receive a quote
Your preferred start dates and/or publishing deadlines
The first two chapters of your manuscript submitted as a Microsoft Word, OpenOffice.org, Plain Text, or Rich Text document. (We recommend submitting your work as an 8.5x11-sized document, with one-inch margins. Text should be double-spaced, in a Times New Roman or similar font. Please exclude images from your file unless they are critical to the edit.)
Your e-mail address and a phone number (if you would like for us to be able to reach you by phone).

To simplify this process, we have created a Sample Edit Request Form where you may enter this information and submit a sample of your manuscript to receive a free sample edit and quote. Alternatively, you may contact us by phone, and we will provide you with additional information.

There is no fee for this sample, but in the event that your work does not qualify for this free service, we will notify you as soon as possible. If you receive a message that submissions have been temporarily suspended due to our waiting list for services, we encourage you to check back with us, as these are normally short-term closures.
