Iam pleasently surprised as well as pleased to see a work from miss Antohin .
This is a good work as a matter of fact it is groundbreaking as it exposes truth's pertinent to the entire African diaspora in the West this book was written by the daughter of Haile Selassie himslef, this work is in fact poetic justice in it's entirety as it exposes the thinking of a person that is actually a living descendent of Haile Selassie who is also equppped with the elasticity and eclectic mindset needed to interpret and delve into the many overlapping intertwining thrreads of sameness and utter alienness, of on the one hand Ethiopian's and the Rastafari in the Western diaspora who claim Ethiopia as a spiritual home or promised land.
My firm hope is that this book does not remain shrouded in obscurity but that it achieves the level of literary exposure that is needed to spark the level of discourse neede tp elevate it.
Every book has an audience but some books have a life all their own this book is in that category this book will long outlive it author.
I appreciate this work and I will add it to my own collection.
My name is Wade A Bailey Iam the author of Rastafari and it's Shamanist Origin's.

Ethiopians & Rastafari [ No Rating ] 2 Apr 2007 (updated 3 Apr 2007)
The book ‘Ethiopians & Rastafari’ is based on research conducted in cultural anthropology. The book gives an account of the Ethiopian experience, as a new diaspora in the United States. It also explores the question why Ethiopians and Rastafarians who share ‘Ethiopia’ or ‘Ityoppia’ as a general point of reference – have historically been at odds.

This study is based on the theories of identity, reflexivity and diaspora and examines related concepts such as symbolic identity, ethnic consciousness and myth of election.

The work utilizes surveys and interviews of first and second generation Ethiopians in the United States in order to derive the prevailing attitudes and perceptions of Ethiopians with respect to the Rastafarian movement which has not been articulated till the present time.

This book is also biographical, as it depicts real life accounts of the author’s journey as one member of the Ethiopian Royal family. She endured three years of the Marist dictatorship in Ethiopia; the imprisonment of her family including parents, death of her mother while in detention, escape from her country and the trials of adjustment to a new life in the process of becoming Ethiopian American.
