In these portraits of women who work as prostitutes on the streets most stripped of the manufactured glitz and glamour that is Las Vegas, we see the defiant joy of a glamour that forces its way past the cuts, bruises, and other marks of desolation that addiction creates: we see a glamour of the mind, the briefest glimpse made visible by a sort of will to beauty. It is glamour in the archaic sense of the word: an enchantment, created by the act of these women gazing into the camera and the camera, without judgment, gazing back, all the while subverting the poses and props of glamour but also subverting the dehumanization of poverty and prostitution that would dismiss these women out of hand. -Gregory Crosby
