One Board by Shea "Rico" Queensborough is a visually striking and beautiful photo book, it is a cross between the likes of the magazine 'Dazed and Confused', a high quality urban fashion shoot and a teenagers Bebo photo page. The connection between the photographer and subjects comes across as very strong, I would imagine there needs to be an element of trust between all involved. Rico must have an understanding of the skater and how they operate within the skate park so as not to obstruct their boarding antics.



I particularly like the alteration between 'polariod' looking images and high quality magazine like shots. It gives the impression that some images were taken by the professional photographer and others randomly collected/taken perhaps by the skaters themselves with an old Polaroid camera. All the images shown are interesting and really grab the attention of the viewer.



Considering all the bad attention and press that present day urban youth receive this book really is a positive change, it is a pleasure to see a collection of images of young men excelling in an activity in a non-aggressive manner with so many smiling faces.
