This calendar celebrates the Art+Fire Project. Proceeds from the sale of the calendar benefit the Lake Pepin Art & Design Center, sponsor of The Art+Fire Project, and support next year's project. In September 2007, UK artists Phil Bews and Diane Gorvin, with USA artists Andrea Myklebust & Stanton Sears, led the creation of a Viking Boat Fire Sculpture and lanterns on the banks of the Mississippi River in Stockholm, WI. On September 22 the boat sculpture was burned in a celebration with live music, fire dancers, and fireworks with approximately 1500 people in attendance. The people and businesses of the Lake Pepin Region donated time, money & materials to make the project a reality. Many thanks to Jen Macklem, Kip Jones (from Canada) Mary Hark, David Wyrick , Macalester College art students and local people too numerous to name.
