Review: Meeting Mona Lisa [ No Rating ] 14 Nov 2005 (updated 14 Nov 2005)
NOVEL TITLE: MEETING MONA LISA
AUTHOR: Bon Cajandab

Review:

One can rarely find a novel as wholesome as Meeting Monalisa by George G. Major in times like these where sex, violence and crimes are all over the media. It was so brave of Majors to gamble his style where competition is very tempting.

It was more like reading a diary of a guy in his BOWFF experience, the beautiful place, Bahamas, and a short moment with a dream girl. It was a short story made long by words of nostalgic intention…perhaps a very memorable moment of the author, and his overwhelming joy shared it to the readers all over the world. It was plainly a Bahamas tour, love and lifestyle, the food, the tropical paradise and the beautiful lovers in Gary and Mona. There were no conflict of interests, no villains,, no manipulations and melodrama. It was a very natural and realistic experience that revolves around two people carried away by the romantic paradise, Nassau and Eleothera. The romance was so natural. There were no signs of aggressiveness and vulgar intentions. The lovemaking was beautiful, decent and just right for conservative readers.

If Meeting Monalisa were a film, I would like to think it as a 30 minute episode of a TV series which may be entitled “The Bahamas: Love and Lifestyle” almost similar in package with Las Vegas, the Sin City, or something like Baywatch or the old hit The Love Boator . Of course the series will revolve around Gary Johnson, his love and lifestyle that would guests famous local Bahamian and Holywood stars. Of course the rating PG 13.

But what kept me focused page by page was my interest to know the personality of the author. If Gary was George then I could say that he must be a very fine and decent guy. A clean mind and sprirt. What touched me most is the child in him as he associated joy with Christmas. Monalisa was a Christmas gift for him and only the one with a child in his heart would wish for Christmas.

I highly recommend this novel for beginners, those who are just beginning to love reading novels. It will give them a positive experience and will realize that not all those found in the store counters are sex, crime and violence.
