From intro to final line, Henry P. Gravelle sets the stage, dims the lights and opens the curtain on a stage darker than any moonless night. He challenges readers to examine what's real and what's not, and, with this author's talent for the macabre, its hard to tell the difference.
If your taste run from the strange and bizarre or fancy gothic horror, readers will enjoy this cornucopia from which to choose. A measure of grusesomeness as well as spectral imagining easily transports you into a realm of "what ifs" and the kingdom of "just maybes", all found within the covers of this book.
While the majority of stories are written in the true scary story style, Gravelle offers a refreshing sense of humor in "Confronting Closet Creatures." This essay on the dynamics of monsters in the closet, under the bed, or behind the curtain offers expert advice on the mechanics with dealing with boogiemen and nighttime critters who visit your bedroom. You might find some advice worth taking.
His storyteller's voice and sense of place perfectly matches the spells he weaves. Ollie Ollie Oxen Free has something for everyone.
A word of warning: Be careful in what you believe before opening this book - you might just come face to face with some undistrubed demons of your own.

Loved this book so much I read it twice. The stories are fascinating....where does he get those ideas. Read a story...close your eyes (if you dare) and you can see it happening. If you love Twilight Zone -- you will absolutely love each story in this book.
I started this book and was captured by the first story. I had intended to "make it last" by reading one story a night.....I finished it in two. Henry has some imagination. I don't even know if I can pick out a favorite story, but I do wish I had known the secret on how to deal with monsters and other "closest creatures" earlier in life. It sure would have saved me a lot of sleepless/scared nights. Parents, read the book, especially that story and tell your kids what to do.
