This is a collection of vague and shallow ideas. What beginners need is something much more vivid and insightful and experiential.

Much of the testing industry operates on hearsay, and this is a great example of it. If you read this, read it critically. Where do these ideas come from? If this is a beginners guide to testing, where is the information about how beginners should or could create tests?

This book gives a good indication of what 'testing' is all about. Lots of terminology and checklists and a good set of references to other sources of information. The author has also helped by putting the process into context. Glad to see emphasis on the importance of early testing. Every tester should take note.

This is a great overview of software testing. If you're new to SW test, start here. If you already are a SW tester, add this to your bookshelf. It's a great summary of the concepts and processes. If you interact with or manage SW testers, this book will give you a better idea of what's going on.
