Description:

Hundreds of thousands of college students are graduating college into the same low wage jobs they were in before attending! Noting the need for insight into how to avoid this, Beyond The Books is the first in a series of audio books aimed at helping college students graduate into the careers they desire. In this 1-hour Compact Disc, Marty reveals secrets about: how to get a better grade just by your appearance; how to do less work on an assignment and get a better grade; how to type a paper to improve the grade without regard to changing content; how to take 5 minutes a day extra and improve your grades without any extra work involved; what can matter much more than points when grades are computed; how to use word choices to impress professors (when your content may not be that great) ………………....and much more!

My Opinion [ No Rating ] 23 Jan 2006
I think that Marty has done a great job with getting his point across. He tells students what they need to do to make a better impression on the teacher to help improve their grades. Overall a great audio book.

I Thought this was a great tool for any student who needs a run down of what to expect in his studying.

Gets the message across loud and clear.

Well managed, well presented, well done
"Beyond The Books": My Thoughts. [ No Rating ] 12 Jan 2006
Marty, it seems you're a caring, patriotic guy with the concerns you've taken in your book. It's uncommon in this age of demanding global pressures for people to have the sort of altruistic, selfless eye that lends a helping hand to the vulnerable, unprotected fresh college graduate's employment welfare for literally a token cost as you've just done with your audio book. Please keep the faith alive. Thanks for your kind thoughts on my book!

Very nicely done, Marty. If only this was out when I went to college..... I think you hit the jackpot with this one! Very informative - every parent, student, teenager needs to purchase this.

This CD is the culmination of some college attitudes and techniques that I inherently understood during my college days (but didn't necessarily know "why") as well as many more that never occurred to me. The author introduces hints and tips, but even more importantly helps the student (or prospective student) to develop their own. He demonstrates not just the What and How of how to stand out positively, but more importantly the Why of techniques that- once internalized- just can't help but improve one's grade. Is it important to sit in a front row with the serious students or is it just as useful to sit in the back with the goof-offs or in the middle of the pack? The answer is obvious, but the WHY brings the rationale to the fore. He includes numerous other tips, but his work could best be summed up in this way: Your grade is the combination of points as compared with the perfection of 100%. But these points aren't just the objective measures of test results; they include the professor's subjective impression of each student, when he/she grades papers and otherwise "grades" the sudent for attitude, class participation and preparation. This subjectiveness can best be summed up as the professor's biases. Let the biases (actually the culmination of all of the professor's impressions of you) work in your favor. This is a fine resource for students on their way to college, yes, but also for the students who are wondering why they are mired in mediocrity - or at the least are not performing to their capability! I can liken this CD to a sucessful graduating senior counselling an incoming freshman. It would be a fine addition to any high school's college preparatory collection, not only for the content but also because it is related in a manner and on a level that young students can relate to.

Dear friends,

Just to say that Marty wanted me to preview his free samples and write a response; I can say that the topics that Marty discusses he seems to know a lot about and speaks in a clear, pleasant and intelligent manner.

Nice guy,

Love you all,

Philip.

You have a very interesting CD book here which I'm sure many students will find of help to them in their studies. Having spent 6 years at University I know just how frustrating trying to acheive good marks can be. Well done Marty you have a winner here.
