Description:

The tidy world of schoolteacher Karen Hudson turns upside down as she embarks on a reckless chase from a small town in California to a jungle in Mexico, searching for the truth about the man who has captured her heart. One day after Michael Browning professes his undying love for Karen, he vanishes. Then she learns he is wanted for murder. Stunned and disbelieving, she sets out on a dangerous quest to unravel the mystery, making her the next target for murder.

Michael Borbeau, alias Michael Browning, never intended to mislead Karen, or fall in love for that matter. Only the need to protect his daughter forced him to choose a new town and a new name. Now, the whole mess is threatening to surface, and he must flee to keep his daughter safe.

I finished this in an evening - fast-paced - great read! [ No Rating ] 13 Dec 2005 (updated 14 Dec 2005)
This story is a wild ride! It started off tame enough, seemed like a typical romance, then zoom! The story takes off like a wired horse bolting from the starting gate! It's about an elementary schoolteacher who falls in love for the first time with the single father of one her students. Things between them are going great guns, then the guy just up and disappears! A couple of detectives show up with lots of questions for her, and she is shocked to learn that he is wanted for murder. But it doesn't quite add up; he's not the murdering type - and anyway, she's in love. So she decides to find out what happened for herself, and goes looking for HIM and for clues about the murder. She finds both. I don't want to give away too much, because there's some nice surprises. There's a villainess in this story that will remind you of everyone you ever wanted to hate rolled up into one persona! She is evil! It's a great read - lot's of suspense. I highly recommend it.
